On a recent trip to Vancouver, I tracked down some locations at which episodes of 'Supernatural' had been filmed. This is a slideshow of the photos I took. Some locations are more obvious than others, but, basically, the photos are of:
1. Buntzen Lake ('Dead in the Water')
2. Victory Square, Gastown and surrounding area (scene of the shapeshifter chase in 'Skin')
3. Chemistry Building, UBC (the Department of Anthropology in 'Bugs')
4. Exterior (and blurry) shot of Riverview Hospital (the asylum - I think - in, well, 'Asylum'!)
5. Burnaby Heritage Village (Burkitsville, Indiana in 'Scarecrow' - yes, I was in Scotty's Diner!!)
6. Century House (area used in 'Shadow')
7. St Andrew's Wesleyan Church (episode unknown, but SN was spotted filming in the church - my guess is 'Salvation', but I could be wrong...)

  • Wow, this is incredible, I live in Vancouver and I've been to alot of these places every day! ^__^

  • Lucky you! I wish I lived in Vancouver. It's a lovely city... : )

  • The church is from "Houses of the Holy", season 2 (it was also used for Dark Angel's season one episode "Pollo Loco" with Jensen as Max's brother Ben;-)

  • Yeah! I thought it looked familiar... But I think they also filmed something from Season 1 there, though I can't place it. They were seen filming at the church, according to reports, before Season 1 ended. And it's definitely the 'Pollo Loco' church, which I hadn't realised until I watched DA Season 1 again after my return... D'oh! Thanks 4 commenting!

  • please can u tell me were all these location are, cos i really want to know

you should add a song on here or something.

  • Hi there - if you look in the description box up top, I've listed the locations and tried to identify the episodes (click on the word "more"). I tried to add a song but I couldn't get it to work on Youtube. On my computer, the slideshow plays to Black Sabbath's 'Road to Nowhere', which was used in 'Something Wicked'... :)

  • hehe.. late comment:

They film a lot in Steveston Village in Richmond and also they filmed at the library building at BCIT (Burnaby campus) for 'Hookman.'

  • That lake where they filmed "Dead in the water" is just beautiful. Really takes my breath away. :D

  • It's alright, despite our Premiere, Gordon Campbell =P

I find it exciting and all that a lot of things are filmed in Canada, but something irks me a little about the film industry, there's absolutely no TV or Films made that actually Take Place in Canada(meaning the story and characters happening there) even small towns in the USA have won out when it comes to where events take place o.o

  • You are extremely lucky.

Everyone like, shoots up in Vancouver.

    I hear it's amazing :D

  • Man, I'd love to work on supernatural, I'm a wanna be / sometimes get paid DP! I love the lighting and shooting style of the show!

Coming to Vancouver in April, but I hear they are not shooting then!! Damn!

  • I love going in River view. I was on the set of Freddy vs Jason and Elf!!!

  • they also film in a little town called port coquitlam. they've been there practically the whole week this week. they used it last year too.

  • FYI, it's St.Andrew's-Wesley United Church, not Wesleyan, and it was used for Salvation and Houses of the Holy. Jensen also filmed an episode of Dark Angel there - Pollo Loco.

  • now i am envy you

  • cooolness!
