i googled "battle of inverness". There wasn't anything about a battle at the british islands during the wwii or wwi.

@GordieMacumAndOther No it wasn't, it was the battle of Inverness in 1943, where the British army valiantly defeated the Nazi invaders. I should know, being from Scotland.

before america entered the war i heard that germany and austria and ottoman were winning and owned all the eastern europe? any truth to that? it sounds like it makes sense seeing as how russia surrendered and had revolution after?

@Smock24 I think so, though I'm not entirely sure. Certainly the Allies had lost on the Eastern Front, but I'm not sure how much territory was taken from Russia. I've seen a map before with huge amounts of land ceded to Germany, but I don't know whether that was just a plan or whether it actually happened for about a year before Germany's defeat.
