Augustana's new song "Reasons" from the deluxe edition of their newest album "Can't Love, Can't Hurt".

Lyrics:

started out sweet as heaven
told you i could give you all my loving
and all the loving in the world couldn't ease your pain

twenty five, stuck in motion
working hard like an empty ocean
all the money in the world couldn't ease my pain

you have my reasons, lord i have mine
don't call me baby, don't even try
you have your freedom, lord i have mine
don't call me baby, don't waste your time

would have climbed the highest mountain
would have held you deepest passions
would have died in your arms with your name on my grave

tell myself everyday is better
close my eyes and forget the weather
you can have a world of women but you'll never have me

so you have your reasons, lord i have mine
don't call me baby, don't even try
you have your freedoms, lord i have mine
don't call me baby, don't waste your time

so you have your reasons, lord i have mine
don't call me baby, don't even try
you have your freedoms, lord i have mine
don't call me baby, don't waste your time

  • This honestly a purely curious question. I don't mean it to be mean in anyway at all so please don't bite my head off. I'm fairly new to this band and I love them to pieces and I was just wondering if some of them could be homosexual? I got curious from that one line 'you can have your world of women, bu you'll never have me.' So if anyone could answer who honestly knows, would be much appreciated.

  • the song was written by the lead singer. he has a wife. i hope that helps you out lol.

  • @inubabie he's talking about her other supports in life, her world of women aka her friends

  • is this in a movie? i feel like i heard this in a movie or on tv or something :/ i love this song so much

  • I love this song! I have been trying to find it to buy it with no luck. Do you know where I can purchase it? THANK YOU for this!!!

  • @inubabie He's probably saying that this woman left him for her friends (who are women).

  • I love how they can go from rock,to pop,to alternative,to country and still be awesome :)

  • @inubabie I think the song in written conversation--the lead singer voices both parts, but they're words coming from two different people. Like a call and response, but only one person plays both parts.

  • @inubabie It's funny cause I was listening to this song this morning and I had the same question from the same line, and I've been listening to this band for years

  • @skiez1fall I think he's telling a story in a unique way. By using a woman as the 1.st person narrator of this song he might want to show that this is not necessarily a story he went through on his own, but maybe a fortune of a friend of him or a random person out in this world. This way anyone can identify with the gist of the song.

  • @shellbelle5

    sure what email?

  • @inubabie he has a wife and a daughter....
