No, I had to work. I'm about to finish out a career as a C&NW engineer and now a UP engineer. I'll have just under a million miles of service. I just have a few more weeks to go. I was lucky a few years ago to be at the NRHS convention in Portland. I took the Zephyr to SAC then the NRHS special to Portland. A private car special. I rode the Silver Rapids the CZ car that belonged to the Pennsylvania RR! I think that was the last time I saw 4449.
-
Were you able to see 4449 lately?
-
CN coaches painted CP? And what a ex NYC baggage car? I guess that goes with ditch lights on a steam engine. There are CP coaches for sale now on a out of service toursit line in NW Iowa. The Iowa Northwestern. CP should get some. I was lucky to ride this train east in the Milwaukee Skytop and Super Dome.1500 miles of steam to Minneapolis.
-
I was also at massive when you shot her going around that sweeping curve I rode ahead with a chaser and we caught the train here than I went to lake Louise and joined the group the next day I rode in the cab out of lake louise over the big hill through the spiral tunnels
-
man i think i was standing right next to you when he pulled foward at 1:00 to get on the mainline I was there too I got the same shots as I recall before he pulled foward a potash train passed us

The 2816 burns diesel fuel.
-
The deisel fuel is more readily available and burns cleaner than Bunker C. On a hard day will will burn 3,500 litres of it, and consume 25,000 gallons of water.
-
Nice video. Wouldn't it be awsome if 2816, and 2860 double headed?
-
Enter CP 2816 Hamilton North in the search bar, you will hear the still existing but rarely used pull cord whistle, the one they use here is the air operated one, which is near the superheater, which gives it that ocean liner sound
-
I like the other whistle better. It's really cool. They never blow it anymore.
Actually, steam engines have been burning oil since the 30s, and much of CP's fleet was converted to oil long before they even saw a diesel on their system!
