Paddy Keenan & Ben Stephenson @ Kidogo Arthouse Fremantle.

Paddy Keenan, a famous third-generation piper and ex-Bothy Band member, played a intimate acoustic gig at Kidogo Arthouse in Fremantle on 26th March 2010, accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Ben Stephenson. The setting: an art gallery on the beach, combined with a bit of Irish cheer (and Whisky), some homemde Irish Soda Bread and split pea sup for pre-gig nosh, and a sold out crowd of listeners, proved to be the combination for a perfect evening.

PADDY KEENAN: is a third generation piper who has achieved legendary status since the mid-1970s when the Bothy Band burst onto Irelands music scene and forever changed the face of Irish traditional music. Paddy was one of the bands founding members and one of its driving forces. The virtuosity and ferocity of his playing led to his being described as the Jimi Hendrix of the pipes, and his style has continued to mature in the intervening years as he has pursued a solo career. Generally acknowledged as the most accomplished Uilleann piper performing today, he is certainly one of the most brilliant musicians of his generation.
BEN STEPHENSON: is a multi-instrumentalist who has risen to become one of Australias most sought-after Irish musicians. In 2000 he won the Declan Affley memorial award for excellence in a young performer at the National Folk Festival in Canberra, which paid for his much-cherished Grinter flute. An extraordinarily versatile musician, Ben is apparently constrained only by the lack of extra arms and hands in addition to the flute he is also a fine guitarist and bouzouki player. He is also well-renowned as part of Australia's premier Irish Trad Band "Trouble In The Kitchen".
