Good Canadian boys... Geddy Lee, bassist, keyboardist, lead vocalist, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.

From the benefit rock concert that was held in Toronto on July 30, 2003. It was also known as "Toronto Rocks", "Stars 4 SARS", "SARSStock", "SARSfest", "SARS-a-palooza", the "SARS concert", or, more descriptively, "The Rolling Stones SARS Benefit Concert". Estimated to have between 450,000 and 500,000 people attending the concert, it is the largest outdoor ticketed (i.e. paid) event in Canadian history, and one of the largest in North American history.
It was organized in about a month, upon the suggestion of headliners The Rolling Stones, who wanted to help revive Toronto's economy after the SARS outbreaks earlier in the year. (The Rolling Stones have held tour rehearsals in Toronto on more than one occasion). When The Rolling Stones announced the concert, Toronto was still under a SARS warning from the World Health Organization. The publicity garnered by the SARS outbreak led to a downturn in Toronto's tourism industry, which the concert was intended to help revive.

The concert was held at Downsview Park in northern Toronto, a former military base. The concert was hosted by actor/singer Dan Aykroyd The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and cable music station MuchMoreMusic provided coverage of parts of the concert throughout the day, including the end of The Rolling Stones' set.

The concert opened in the afternoon with the Have Love Will Travel Revue (Aykroyd and James Belushi), Sam Roberts, Kathleen Edwards, La Chicane, The Tea Party, The Flaming Lips, Sass Jordan, The Isley Brothers, and Blue Rodeo. Each band performed for 15--20 minutes. The second part of the concert began later in the afternoon and lasted into the night and included Justin Timberlake, The Guess Who, Rush, AC/DC, and The Rolling Stones, who performed a 90-minute set to end the concert.

  • I always wanted to see Neil Peart Drum live,i was in Awe of him!!!! What a Amazing Drummer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! almost at the front with a group of friends !!!!! what a day!!!! soooooooooooo hot and we were drunk stoned and sunburned!!!!!!!!! soo proud to be Canadian that day!!!!!!!!!!!!! we went to see AC/DC and they stole the show!!!!!

  • Sorry. I meant Alex on TP Boys. Really tired and dont do this stuff. I was thinking about what Neil said on that TV show about Clapton wanting to burn his guitar after seeing Hendrix and thinking that was the opposite about how he felt about other great musicians.

  • I always liked RUSH. I saw them more than once in Detroit over 25 years ago. After seeing Eric on the TP Boys I thought I'd check for some footage here. Thanks to the people that posted. I have to say that after REALLY seeing them jam ( I never had good seats) and looking up the lyrics I got the effin chills several times. These guys are a seperate and collective genius. Magic. They have to do a 2012 tour.

  • @07smyle You should put a link to you LL account so others can see the pics you've uploaded.
