  • The ending of this song is so powerful "And I woke up: thinkin' I was dying, crying like a baby, thinkin' 'bout you." Everyone always says what a gifted singer Burton is and that's true, but he's such a talented songwriter too, he can really conjure up emotions in your soul with just his song...amazing

  • This song came out in 1975, when I was a senior in high school in South Florida. I will forever associate it with a girl from Canada with whom I fell madly in love ... she loved the Guess Who - and was even related as a distant cousin to their then-guitarist Dominic Troiano. The song is simply beautiful ... and I will think of Valerie every time I hear it. The "saw you, saw me" segment is one of the most emotional, goose-bump creating pieces of music I've ever heard.

  • thanks for sharing this.. this has got to be one of my favourite guess who songs ever! this song carries so much emotion <3

  • @garysmusiclist

saw that show too and it was a great show and well worth the wait

  • don't care for the synths on this song...other than that it's sweet

  • I am pretty sure that was late August of 1975...one of my earlier posts i incorrectly said 77 but that was wrong....1975 was the year...

  • What year was that Gary?

  • This song is on "Power in the Music" and i saw these guys sing all these songs at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. We waited for over an hour for them to start because of a deluge of rain and it was so worth it...I am getting chills just thinking of that magical night...Thanks for posting it

  • This really shows Burt's transition into a solo artist. Good song craft on this last album of the Guess Who, a lot different from their classic era but still very well done.

  • You are so right! At 2:50 the song totally changes. I have the original vinyl album & 45 & I use to play the whole song just to get to that part. You are on target about his song writting too. One & Only is a great example.
