Flying the Cathkin peak area in the South African Drakensberg in 1995. Some footage of my LS1-d ( Tango Five ) up against the peaks of the 'berg filmed by my Father-in-law from an Astir piloted by Max Van Dijkhorst. ( on a trip to the US Max had a Pawnee towplane land on the Blanik he was flying! ) . We made this trip several years along with Magaliesberg Gliding Club during the last week of July and the first week of August.

Later during this week I made a diamond height gain climb of over 5750m above release in wave off the lee of the escarpment. Getting to over 25000' amsl. On a trip in a later year I made it to a little over 32000' msl.
