By contrast, my first computer was the comparable Atari 800 XL (December 1984), which I still have and occasionally use. I wonder if video poster JERSEYman4 still has his first computer. Back then, JERSEY Girl (granddad ERNEST) had a Commodore 64. It & the Atari came with 64K of memory, like "US Highway 64--to state capital Raleigh; menace of the state" theme. The theme wants you to pay for educational shortcomings of their fatally flawed system in the current day / D-grade propaganda, etc.
In subtext, Reh was saying: How dare that &*@Q!Z imply she has a better grasp of this weather event than me! Anyway, from other folksy NBC17 promos back then, we know Janice Jones developed her fascination with weather as a child while living in the U.S. Virgin Islands and her first computer was a TRS-80; a brand made by the TANDY Corporation and associated with Radio Shack. The Jonses have a son, Troupe, which sounds like the TROOP of military infantry service (think IRAQ surge & draft)
On Bill Reh & familiarity: I remember a significant weather event a few years ago that had several of the station's forecasters pressed into service & obvious animosity between Reh & then chief meteorologist Janice Jones. Of course, Jones is married to morning anchor Donald Jones. Anyway, after a "toss" back to him, Reh became noticeably agitated because Jones said something contradictory. He reminded the viewers that he had been forecasting central NC weather since the early 1980s--Hint, hint.
As if anyone can keep up with the revolving door that is on-air "talent" in local news these days. Seemingly, it's: "They stumble in, they stumble out" and sometimes it's so fast that if you blink you miss it. Also, sometimes I swear it seems like management makes "talent" selections with a perverse intent to offend / turn-off the viewer. It's those instances when you wonder: "Why the heck would anyone hire that &@%Q! to the anchor chair?"
