I know that man is a mechanical engineer because im a mech engineer too. And i like the way shell showed us their passion looking for alternatives to satisfy the needs of oil. Great Ad!

I always love a good invention here or there, but in this situation, I find it unnecessary. They are finding new ways to extract the oil that is running out anyway. Instead of investing in energy that will soon vanish from the face of the earth within fifty years, Shell should invest in forms of renewable energy. It just seems to be good business strategy to be the first ones to cover such a vital field in the future, insteading of using a lot of money to fund obsolete things. What do you think?

MIT, and 2 other firms have created a process to create fuel with Algae. Its healthy to drink for consumption, and can be used as fuel. In fact Fossil fuel (gasoline) is mainly algae from millions of years ago, not just dead dinosuars.

Even if we did use the algae, we would still have the problem with our atmosphere. And noones really going to use public transit 100%, the oil companys will shut down the electric car, unless we find a way to "fix" our atmosphere anyway you look at it were effed.

if you think digging those stuff are for energy only, you're already wrong. look around you, and see how much stuff is made of petroleum-based products. EOR (enhanced oil recovery) boosts oil recovery from underground to 50-60% instead of the current 30-40%. sorry mate, 50 years seem too short for the economy, hugely depending on oil to keep steady at this rate.

I completly agree with you. Plus theres the important topic of our environment. Extracting oil is destroying our earth while there are tons of renewable resources already out there, that don't tear apart our earth.
