  • Awesome video. What effect will this have (if any) with legitimate games that give a blinking light all the time? I tried replacing the 72-pin connector and still get the blinking screen. I was hoping it's possibly a lockout chip malfunction, which this mod would hopefully help me bypass. Any thoughts? Thanks!

  • @usafjetdriver I haven't ran into any games that work with the lockout chip enabled, so in theory no harm should be done.

  • @bigun89 Thanks for the reply! I guess my question shouldn't have been whether or not this will mess up the NES. It should have been "is there a chance I could solve the blinking light/screen issue by performing the lockout chip mod?"

The reason I ask is because the new 72-pin connector didn't seem to do the trick. Also, did you really mean to say that you haven't run into any games that work with the lockout chip enabled, or that u haven't run into any games that had issues with the mod? TY

  • @usafjetdriver Err yeah, the games seem to work just fine without the chip enabled. Between the blinks, is the game working?

  • @bigun89 Nope. :(

  • @usafjetdriver Then probably disabling the chip would be a pointless venture. HOWEVER, go ahead and take it apart anyway (can't make it work less than what it is already), and look for anything obvious (swollen capacitors, burnt fuses, etc.)

  • Just cut pin # 4. That will disable it permanently and is much easier to do.

  • im confused why you can't send them back. maybe the person that send it to you would actually want it fixed and would pay for the shipping back

  • Very clear and well documented...even for someone like me with the attention span of a gnat (pronounced `nat`) good stuff tanks!

  • Your good :) real good :P it's amazing I might try this out!!
