No disrespect but not everyone values human life. Suicide bombers for one.

Also, without respecting our environment and empathizing with other lifeforms, we might exploit them and disrupt the ecosystem, which might be our end.
But that's only part of it. As humans, we evolved to be social animals. Most of us have instincts that help us to value human life. By sticking together and helping one another, we are more likely to survive, preserving those very same tendencies.

Laws can change or disappear, but if people want to live peacefully, they have to stand up for the laws that protect them. That's something we have to do, whether God exists or not. Otherwise, those who maim and kill do so, and we're helplessly hoping that some spirit will make everything all right in the end.
To me human value is about respect and empathy. If I don't respect or empathize with my fellow man, he will not respect me and might harm me.

Rights are concepts that we made up in order to live in society. Laws are things we made up in order to coexist in society. When a person decides it is his purpose to maim and kill, we stop him as soon as possible. Sometimes it may not be soon enough. I live in reality, and sometimes reality is sad and disappointing. I'd rather live in that reality than tell myself something exists, when I've never seen any evidence of its existence and have no reason to believe in its existence.

You are an idiot. Morals are obvious. I don't like to suffer and don't want to die. I make the assumption you feel the same. So I naturally try to encourage all of our survival and try to diminish all of our suffering. It doesn't take a god to figure that out.
-
In case you didn't know.... this already is a world where man makes his own rules. If you look through history you will notice that laws as well as moral values are always evolving.
-
You missed the main point. An atheist saying I think life has value and I like to see people happy so atheists are good people without an objective lawgiver, may live next door to a man who says in his point of view people have been way too stuffy over the years about rules and he thinks we're here just to kill mame and destroy because it's more fun to him. In your world where people make up their own rules, you have no right to challenge his thinking. Laws? Laws could easily be changed.

"Faith is a choice- based on no facts" I would have to disagree with because those who choose religion (faith) only do so because of the tyranny of the mojority. And 9 times out of 10 they are recycled by their immediate peer group or society or both. By "recycled" I mean they are a copy, follow etc. of what previous people or persons have done/ believe. By human nature most are not srong enough to fight indoctrination. But the old have to Die so the new can be born...
"Meaning" is a trick played on us by the material process of evolution. We are made to think we have meaning because that quality is what has been determined by evolution to better spread our genes. In reality, you have no intrinsic value; you are just a slave to the material processes that have produced you - the only absolute in a TENS world.
Evolutionists' strong desire to promote this loathsome belief to children is entirely due to the social and political agendas that motivate them.

Really value is the sort of thing that is not intrinsic to *anything*. Things have value because people put value on them. It's totally subjective.

I don't think this question was ever about monetary value. This is about something a bit more...well, I dunno. Maybe "what gives human life value?" is the wrong question to be asking?

What gives human life value? Capitalism. I aint saying one human is worth more than the other. Human life is beyond value. It's only capitalism that says otherwise.

Capitalism? Would you mind elaborating on that idea? I'm not sure I know what you mean.
