This isn't one of my more polished performances :-). I just wanted to play this song on the vox continental to test it out and I liked the way it sounded through a Yamaha G100B12 amp with single spring reverb and some old DOD flanger on the front end of it. It really has that 'cranking' sound when you're right there and some of that came through on the video I guess. The song's more produced version on a better voice day can be found on the http://www.sounddoctorin.com site's SDstudio page then hit 'sound samples' and it directs to various tunes I have up on the net. Enjoy.

  • AAAAAAAARRRGHHHHH!!!!!! I WANT TO LIVE, HAVE MY FAMILY AND DIE IN YOUR STUDIO!!!!! What a great amount of vintage keyboards... SLURP :-D

  • Please..don't do that... we may not find you until it starts to smell bad :-). Check out the museum tour on the sounddoctorin com website and some of the new songs in sound samples! I pray you have a blessed family and much sonic enjoyment and always feel free to stop by if you're in town..just don't die in there man! :-)

  • Eheh, thanks for your invitation... Unfortunately I live in Switzerland, so it's a bit difficult to get there :-)

Surely I'll check the museum, I'm really fascinated in vintage keyboards. I own a Roland Juno 106, a JP-8000 and a Yamaha SY77, and now I am searching for a Vox Continental but this great organ is so difficult to find... And so expensive.

  • Oh yeah you might want to shoot for a jaguar. Much more affordable and still wonderful sounding! I played the version with the tone knob a bit after fixing it up the other day. Really great! -Bob

  • Another cool video, thanks again. Sure love your studio.

  • Singing and playing Vox in the morning, it really doesn't get much better than that I gotta say. Thats how I love to spend my Saturday mornings :D

  • Dude at the beginning it sounds so much like a Hammond!

  • This is one of the best performances on a vintage Vox Continental I've ever seen. 99% of the units I've come across no longer produce any sound or worse, smell like burning plastic and wood when you power them. Rare video of a working unit, this was the Original Monster of Rock back in the day, featured on so many of the greatest Prog Rock albums of all time. Awsome vid, though it would be really great to have a comprehensive walk-through of your Vox inside & out, nobody has posted one yet!! :D

  • not bad. actually i like it more than Ray Manzarek's latests performances.

    thanks!
