"Mattie (aka Jean Chapel)& Salty" were a favorite married duo as Grand Ol' Opry stars of the mid-1950's. Mattie first became famous with her two sisters, Martha and Minnie, and they were the first well known all-girl string band, "The Sunshine Sisters". She teamed with Salty for several years, then later changed her name to "Jean Chapel" and was a hit rock&roll artist for Sun Records and RCA, with the song, "Welcome To The Club". Salty was originally with famous western band, "The Prairie Ramblers" and "The Sweet Violet Boys" (same group, different names) and he also had a hit record, "I Want My Mama" and was renowned as "The King of the Talking Harmonica".- Mattie & Salty made many records together..this song was one of their most popular.
Thanks for the upload. I always enjoyed the Kentucky Ramblers and went on an adventure tracking down the musicians and the transitions made in the band. What a wonderful surprise! Great music and greater talent. Thanks again.
