History was made in Washington DC on March 29, 1979 when, in the presence of the US president Jimmy Carter, president Anwar Sadat of Egypt and prime minister Menachem Begin of Israel signed a peace treaty - the first ever between an Arab country and the state of Israel. Agreeing to peace proved a long and difficult process. A process that at times broke down over some of the region's most sensitive issues, which remain unresolved to this day.

  • we Iranian will never forget the Sadat, we have respect to him and all Egyptians, because he treated our King as a King, i think all Iranian must know that we owe Egypt and Egyptians, Sadat was a real man and real friend, God bless Sadat and all Egyptians, long live Egypt

  • Go rot in a cave with your superstitious dogma!

  • The Egyptian army did well indeed... within the reach ot the SAM-umbrella, which only covered the eastern bank of the Suez canal. Once the army advanced beyond their SAM-cover they were sitting ducks!

Egypt was not fighting the USA. If you base that on the fact that USA was supplying Israel with weapons and/or advisors you might as well claim that Israel was fighting the Soviet Union!

  • u r wrong man,Egyptian army did very well and dont forget we were fighting against USA,Israel was crying for help and it was obvoius when they said ,help us help us,we couldnt stop the Egyptians.

Sinai is Egyptian now anyways, whether u agree or not:)) go and play with arabs your games and Egypt is a continent itself and we know how to defend it coz we taught people the meaning of life.

  • Sadat did what the Egyptian army couldn't - got back Sinai!

  • thanks for posting it
