  • My father was working for $1.00 a day in l940 he said and was glad to get it....Today's world can not picture how hard it was with no help from anybody or anyone.......Thank God for FDR....how sad it is that WW11 saved a Nation and destroyed many others......

  • @HarborGuy yeah, the depression was unfathomable to todays people. My 87 year old mother told me when she was a kid they had to sleep 3 to a bed. Her father (my grandfather) bartered and learned various skills on his own to make a buck to feed his family......he was an artist, photographer for the local morgue, school teacher and taught himself to be a "watch-maker" (watch repair actually)....he did all these things part time as he had no steady job.........it was rough

  • A UCLA study from 2004 says that FDR actually deepened the depression with some of the things he did. I cant post the link but you can google it. interesting stuff
