What u all are forgetting is that Jesus challenged the religious doctrine of the old testament,. Inaddition, with GOD all things are possible, including marriage and kids so don't underestimate a soveign GOD, He can do all things including marry and suffer as humans did...

raz- do some research not what you think is okay. Tyron302 below is correct and if Jesus was married and had children that would mean the He (God) had sex with the being He created and if He was married then how can the church (His bride to be) get married (joined to him)?

Actually, that's not right. There were 3 criteria
1.Apostolic Succession - the book (letter) must be by a 1st or second generation disciple of Jesus, not less than that.
2.Continuity - The doctrine must be harmonious with the scriptures and must not contradict it.
3.Usage - Everyone must be using it.
By these standards, the councils that affirmed the texts of the Bible affirmed what all the other churches knew and believed.
There is no ulterior motive of the church in this regard.

tell the story of Jesus as THEY thought it should be told. Its perfectly plausable that Jesus had a wife and children, as was a required part of Jewish faith at the time...but does this make Jesus any less the son of God? To me, no.

what is wrong with you all? Dan Brown admitted his book was fiction...a story.... and before you all hurl abuse, I am also a christian, and I beleive Jesus was the son of God regardless of which stories you believe..- however there are some truths in the da vinci code -such as how the church chose a select few gospels to .....
