Just some random improvisation, demoing the Engl E530 preamp. This was recorded using the E530's built-in 1.5w solid-state poweramp.

Chain: LTD MH400 with EMG 81 --- Engl E530 --- Framus Dragon 412st. No boosts, no effects, nothing. This is pure E530.

All settings weren't far from 12 o'clock - this thing literally took me around 10 seconds to dial in! Lead chanel, hi gain, contour off. Lead gain is about 2 o'clock

  • Is the direct recording output good? Im planning to conect it to the loop on the mesa Boogie mark IV. Could I get the same sound as periphery on the song the walk? they used engl invaders!

  • @ivansandoval777 This sounds very different to Engl Invaders, which by the way I'm fairly sure Periphery didn't use for their album - I think they used Axe FX. I never used this to record direct so I can't answer your question, sorry!

  • Do you need to put this through a power amp before the cabinet to get it to amplify?

  • @Gyro911 This preamp has a built-in 1.5w poweramp, which will get you loud enough to generally jam, etc, but you wouldn't get loud enough to compete with a drummer, though you may get away with playing like through a full PA, depending on the size of the venue you're playing (i.e, small venue)

  • sorry but the cable that you attack at the guitar cab is stereo or mono?

  • @88Infernus88 Between the preamp and the cab is a regular speaker jack, from the Engl headphone jack into the cab's input (8ohm)

  • DAMN!!! O.o sounds badass!

  • Do you need a noisegate with this?

  • @ivansandoval777 buy an invader and a orange cabinet, and then you got your periphery sound...

  • I really appreciate this demo. You did some shred, some chug, and you have the tone I'm looking for! Glad I ran across this one. Keep playing, friend!

  • good sound

  • Tried this one yesterday and I got to tell you, this video doesn't even come close to show how awesome it sounds in real. My signal chain was rg1527 w/ blaze bridge->E530->Yamaha 1*12 cabinet. This is great stuff.

  • God this is fantastic. an Engl e530 and a Krank cab. with a mediocre budget you ve created an expensive sound. Congrats.

  • do you know how to connect the engl 530 to the computer for recording?
