Great video of Sooky our Moluccan Cockatoo Sooky. He is a boy. He is beautiful, empathic, interesting and observes everything around him. He is flighted as we personally do not clip our Cockatoos, if it became an issue of safety we would, but we do not have that issue with Sooky boy. This is him just chattering away and flying from cage to cage showing off. He is very much a loving boy. Great with our kids and will let anyone hold him. He has been very well socialized being raised by us and hand fed from 13 weeks up to around 6 months old to wean. He can destroy a toy in 2 days, love to hang and yell, so not a bird for someone with sensitive ears! We have worked very hard in raising a healthy, independent Cockatoo. The hardest part of raising a Cockatoo is not holding them too much. As much as they want to be held and you might want to. It is best to raise them with love, but boundaries. Holding and loving is a yes, but teach them to play and be a bird. Give them a lot of foraging toys and things to keep them busy. They love color, love knots, love to forage. He is a very good balance of loving to be held and to play for hours outside and inside his cage.
