The rarest canine species on Earth. Canis Rufus, the Red Wolf. These two females are kept at the Northwest Fl. Zoo. They're identified as coyotees there, but some very knowledgeable people have told me that they are Red Wolves! Both supposedly caught locally in live traps, then donated to the zoo to keep from being euthanized.

  • actually, I've seen a lot of coyotes, and these two ARE red color coyotes, not wolves.

  • It's hard to tell, I thought they were coyotes too. They are called coyotes at the zoo, but, others say otherwise. They are all beautiful creatures regardless.:)

    Thanks for watching!

  • I'm gonna intern at Alligator National Reserve, which is where the Red Wolf Reintroduction program is held.

I get to be a Red Wolf caretaker :D

    great vid btw!

  • That's awesome! I'd love to do that. Thanks for watching the vid.:)

  • It's sickening thinking of how humans are causing the extinctions of so many species of flora and fauna in the name of 'progress'.

  • Regardless of whether they're Red Wolves or Coyotes, they're beautiful animals and you took a lovely video. Thanks for sharing with your fellow wild canid enthusiasts.

  • This is total bullshit! Those are coyote hybrids not wolfs. Its just another excuse to increase the number of destructive animals.

  • @tromboneandbari If you were actually an informed individual you would know that the sub species red wolf is the hybridisation of wolf and coyotes. So of course they look similar to coyotes because red wolves are approx 80% coyote and 20% gray wolf.

  • they look like they have both wol coyote cuz i cant see a bit of both in them

  • I love how people get on here and say they are in fact coyotes. It's true that they have many similarities to coyotes, but that is because they are about 76% coyote and 24% wolf. There have been a few different studies published in the last few months detailing this. How great would the world be if people actually read before shooting opinions off from the hip?

  • @BrokenCyde1fan luckily grey wolves and coyotes have a conservation status of least concern so they are not in danger of extinction however red wolves are endemic to south east america and 'critically endangered' so every effort is being made to save these beautiful creatures from extinction. glad to know so many people are passionate about them! :)

  • i'm a studying biologist currently writing a report on red wolves, there is in fact a hybrid breed of red wolf-coyote due to inbreeding however thanks to captive breeding there are approx 250 PURE red wolves, the population is steadily increasing. Main reasons they have gained their critically endangered conservation status are deforestation and predator control programmes- this is being solved with a fine of $100,000 and a years prison sentence for anyone who shoots the wolves as it is illegal

  • The thing about Red Wolves is that they are hard to tell from coyotes because they are not a specie on their own but rather a descendant of crossbreeds between Grey Wolves and coyotes. The same applies for the Eastern Wolves in Ontario whom are also coywolves. However, Red Wolves and Eastern Wolves are slightly larger than coyotes are smaller than Grey Wolves which give away that they are not coyotes
