K2 is a supreme challenge and to this day still no one has climbed it in the winter - the only one of the '8000 club' that hasn't had that done since Annapurna was climbed several years back! Another peak that is fiendishly difficult to climb is Baintha Brakk/"The Ogre". It doesn't have the extreme altitude of K2 (although it is not small at over 7285m/23,901ft!) But the top has only been reached twice - and not once in the last 10 years. Awesome and majestic mountains!

K2 is considered more difficult than Everest for several reasons - not the least being its remote location - several weeks of hiking and trekking to just get to base camp - no tourist busses here! It's average slope is close to 45 degrees, compared to Everest's 23 degrees. The most dangerous part of Everest is the Khumbu ice fall at its base-the mountain itself is not really that difficult.
