I water my aloe houseplant once every week or two and only use like 100-ish milliliters.
It's about 8 inches tall and seems fine.

I have a potted aloe vera plant and for the first year put it in direct sun, it grew "ok" however I decided to change locations from the north side to the south side (partial sun) and noticed the leaves grew in thicker, and juicer, and quantity. I seem to have 6 additional plants, so it is ready for transplant, and separating, which I have no idea how to do. oh well.

LOL. If it's very easy to grow then how come our plants keep on dying? Is it because the sun is way to hot for the plants, because Saudi Arabia is very hot.

@WatercolorLoving I guess it depends on the plant, the plants I have like indirect Sun or direct Sun for short periods of time, otherwise they seem to get burned, just experiment. Alot of people say indirect sun, others say direct, maybe it depends how big the plant is as well. This has been my experience.

Perlite would work nice as well
Thanks Yolanda for the information. I never knew aloe vera plants were related to lilies and onions and considered a vegetable.
I have an aloe plant that is growing out of control and looked here for some info for planting. The drainage tips are very helpful.

I thought that it was a bad idea to put your plant in full, direct sun. I have heard if you are using the plant for medicinal purposes this is true especially, because you will burn the plant when the sun heats up the water molecules inside of the leaves...
