Il Frecciargento è un ETR600, un treno ad alta velocità delle Ferrovie dello Stato, capace di raggiungere la velocità massima di 250 km/h. Dal mese di Dicembre 2008, gli Etr600 assieme agli Etr485 hanno preso il nome di Frecciargento e sono stati vestiti di una nuova livrea dai colori rosso fiammante, nero ed argento. Nello stesso hanno, tali convogli hanno cominciato anche a percorrere la linea
Roma-Bari in sole 3 ore e 59 minuti.
Il treno, è costituito da 7 carrozze, di cui nella numero 3, è presente un servizio di ristorazione e bar.
LEtr600 è un elettrotreno ad assetto variabile, capace di prestazioni superiori al 25% rispetto ai convogli tradizionali, grazie alla capacità di inclinare la cassa in curva. Da ciò è appunto derivato il soprannome di Pendolino. Il pendolamento non è spontaneo: avviene attraverso particolari meccanismi che consentono le rotazioni della cassa.
Tutte le carrozze sono climatizzate ed insonorizzate per offrire il massimo del confort anche a 250 km/h e oltre.
