When you buy an animal from a pet store or a breeder, you're responsible for a new member of the family! You're also responsible for the death of an animal in a shelter who needed a home. If you want to bring an animal into your life, always adopt from an animal shelter.

Every year in the United States, open-admission animal shelters across the nation are forced to put to death roughly half of the 6 million to 8 million unwanted dogs and cats who pour into their overwhelmed facilities. Wonderful, healthy, social, loveable animals lose their lives because of simple math: too many animals and not enough homes.

Every animal bred and born—on purpose or by accident—and every animal purchased from a breeder or a pet shop fills a home that could have taken in a dog or a cat dying for a home at a local shelter. Never breed or buy from breeders or pet stores, and always practice your ABCs—Animal Birth Control—to work toward the goal of a "No-Birth" nation.

ALWAYS SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR ANIMALS, AND NEVER BUY THEM FROM A BREEDER OR PET STORE!

  • purebred working dogs > all other animals.

  • AKC/CKC = KKK

  • Why cant dogs from a breeder have a chance to have a home. This is retarded. All dogs need a chance not just the ones in the shelters.

  • people shouldn't be breeding dogs.

millions of animals are put down every year because they don't have a home and shelters can only keep them for so long.

every animal that's bought from a pet store or a breeder fills up a home that could have been taken by a shelter animal that will eventually be put to death.

  • i adopted my rabbit from a shelter, personally, he's my favorite out of all my pets, he has the most personality, he was given such loving care at the shelter which i think made him who he is now. i will never buy EVER again

  • i adopted both of my rabbits from the spca is montreal.

they're the greatest. they're big white bunnies with long standing up ears, the bigger of the two weighs 14 pounds (and he's very fit... always running around).

    rabbits are awesome :)

    Thank you!

  • wow..

i was about to buy one from a store, well now im getting it from a shelter but not until may my birthday

  • That is sad. Just think millions of dogs are being euthinized every day because paeple keep breeding them. It's just to sad.

  • this made me cry. i cant believe how cruel breeders are to their animals! all of my dogs are from a shelter, but my rabbit was from a breeder. she ended up having a rabbit disease that almost killed her. luckily we were able to save her. she is sweet, but she has the scars from the disease. her head is tilted slightly to the right and will never be completely straight again.

  • Damn strait. Never buy from a breeder. Great video. A little shocking but effective. 5 stars.

  • Right on! Never buy and animal. Adopt or rescue only!

  • Holy crap...that is the best adoption commercial EVER!!!!!

  • Top video, really gets the point across. I despise the idea of 'pedigree' dogs it is parallel to the Nazi fixation of a 'master' race.
