And it was SO satisfying to send the Canadiens home this year - in EXACTLY THE SAME MANNER as the Habs did to the Bruins in 1979 - a seventh game OT goal...
And then of course, to go on and win the Cup...
No different than the Red Sox going through the Yankees to break 'The Curse', the Celtics through the Lakers for the long awaited Banner #17, and the Patriots beating the Raiders (1976 and roughing-the-passer canceled out by 'The Tuck Rule) on their march to their first Super Bowl win...
When I was a kid the first time I went to a game at the Forum, early 70's, I remember wearing nice clothes and my dad wearing a suit, tie and hat. I doubt my father ever saw a game live without a tie on but most of the people near us were dressed up, just a notch below the opera. I remember watching this game on TV and the breakout pass they use was a regular one when counter attacking a rush. I love Houle's pass to Tremblay as he comes back over centre.
It was customary to wear a suit and tie if you had a seat in the REDS......not forced mind you but expected. I remember seeing Expos players and celebrities in fur coats and decked out to the max. Wearing team sweaters must have got its start somewhere else.
No, it looked like nobody was checking Lambert. Park was watching Tremblay and Park had no clue Lambert was there.
