I have heard from some railfans that its only a matter of time before 611 will return. But 1218 probably wont I have heard that they destroyed a few of her important parts so she cant run they can make them again but they wont because she is too big to run and maintain I wish 1218 would run again as well but I really want to see 611. But it is possible to bring back other locomotives that use to be on the steam program as well I would like to see T&P 610 return.

Did you hear that NS is starting a steam program again through the Tennesse Valley Railroad Museum? I wonder if they will consider running the 611 or the 1218 again in the future. There is more about it on NS's website.

I was there about 3 years ago. Glad that the place hasnt changed (except for the fact 611 has a single beam headlight instead of a dual beam which i think is better and NKP 763 isnt there anymore)

Of course with the recent news from NS & TVRM, I'm sure that after a few years, NS will approach the VMT and ask about the A and J. I can't estimate how many people will be floored when 611 is resurrected.

sweet vid, but it makes me sad to look at 611 and 1218 just sitting there after having a full restoration on them some 10 to 20 years ago, and then put in a museum like this.....but hey, i guess its better then being scrapped, right?
