Domestic pertnership is not a true commitment. It is a way to be able to make sure are partners are protected when they are hurt, when we need legal protections, or just a sense of security. Me and my husband where domestic partners for 10 years before we married. I never saw domestic partners as anything then a legal contract in case i died or got hurt. Marriage is so much more then that. The day I married Bryan was the day I cried and exhailed. Finally I could tell the wolrd about my love.

So when you say ( I do not understand when other avenues would afford homosexual unions all of the same rights why they chose to clone themselves as hetero) Its because we come from familys that are hetero we see the value in these relationships. We want a seat at the dinner table we want to be acepted for who we are and what we contribute. My family has taken my partner and kids in as family they understand the difference between marriage and Domestic partnerships.

I have found a man that I can give all of my being to, we can celebrate family love and god togehter. I understand that being gay is just a small part of who I am as a person and that life is alot more complicated then we can even began to understand. I have been blesed with a husband and a family. Some day I will see god and thank him for allowing me to survive two suicide atempts and then blessing me with all that I have.

My parents are heterosexuale they have been married 42years. I come from a family that values marriage and family and God. When i was a teenager I tried to kill myself twice for the fact that I thought family and god where no longer going to be there for me. The idea that I would live a life of anoynimouse sex and being alone was a life I could not undertake. I have learned that those thoughts where lies put fourth by a society that chooses to hate then understand.

Marriage is a word and words have meaning, sometimes legal meaning. The sides have every right to fight for the change amending or elimination of it's current meaning. Marriage is the very embodiment of heterosexuality and is symbolic of the undeniable biological factors of procreation.

The idea that marriage is a heterosexual union is the problem. Love and family between two people is a human right. I and my partner have been in a loving commited relationship for 13years we have two kids. Marriage gives us the safety and security that all commited relationships deserve. Marriage is not a symbol it is a bond in front of god & government that you agree to take one other thru all the trials and difficultys of life. anything less is a lie and a delusion.

Why do gays after having spent their life trying to forge their identity in tact, being true to themselves wish to jump ship at the last ans acquire the very symbol of heterosexuality?

Marriage is a word and words have meaning. Marriage is the very symbol of heterosexuality and the embodiment of the factors of biological procreation.

It creates a complete circus. seems they would have come up with something unique to frame their unions by a different word to proclaim their unique place.
