Recorded at Bewdley Baptist Church, Worcestershire 15th October 2011.
Martin starts with a tribute to the great Hull based folk singer Mike Waterson who sadly died in June this year aged 70.
Martin sings Mike's "Three Day Millionaire" about a boy's coming of age as a fisherman sailing out of Hull and earning his living on the sea.
Why I left school Friday
And I started work on Saturday
To catch the early tide
And be a galley boy's me plan
On the fishin' grounds to roam
Eighteen hundred mile from home
I couldn't give a bugger, I'm a man
He then goes on to play "Bold General Wolfe" from his new album 'Purpose and Grace' about more of which can along with details of gigs and other stuff be found here - http://www.martinsimpson.com/
General James Wolfe (2 January 1727 -- 13 September 1759) was a boyhood hero of mine before I came to have doubts about imperialism, but I continue to admire the humanity of the General, who not only gave his name to a pub I used to frequent in Coventry, but also whose adventures I followed in Nova Scotia, one rainy day in Louisbourg, Cape Breton a few years back.
