Maketing Guru Phillip Kotler Visits Sri Lanka. New Insights to SL 3-7June 2011

S & L in 'Sri Lanka' means 'So Lovely' - Prof.Philip Kotler. World renowned marketing guru, Professor Philip Kotler arrived for his inaugural visit to Sri Lanka yesterday (June 03) morning. "There are many countries in the world striving to obtain the green label. But Sri Lanka truly deserves to be called a green destination and to my mind, it is one of the best locations in the world for eco-tourism" said the world renowned marketing guru , Professor Philip Kotler after taking a tour to the ancient " Sigiriya rock fortress in Sri Lanka last morning.

Prof. Philip Kotler is one of the world's foremost experts on the strategic practice of marketing, voted the first leader in Marketing Thought by the American Marketing Association. He is a distinguished Professor of International Marketing at the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University, and the author of many influential books. Including the 13th edition of Marketing Management.


Addressing the media Mr. Kotler said, "I have travelled to many countries in the world, and this is undoubtedly the most heartfelt reception I came across among them" .

Prof. Kotler also remarked that he is very much appreciative of the sincerity of Sri Lankan people so immediately experienced after landing into the country.
He was welcomed by Dr. Nalaka Godahewa, Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism and Thushara Perera, President of Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM).

During his four day stay in Sri Lanka Prof. Kotler will be delivering a "Knowledge Forum" seminar for the first time on June 06 at Colombo's Waters Edge Hotel.

The seminar will focus on the importance of marketing in post recession period while discussing the methods of satisfying the need of the technology driven new generation -- "Generation G".

He will be meeting with several key stakeholders and officials in the country during his stay.

Prof. Kotler is scheduled to visit Kandy and Sigiriya and some other major tourist attractions in Sri Lanka organized by Sri Lanka Tourism.

Philip Kotler's visit to Sri Lanka is being facilitated by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, the national body of marketing in Sri Lanka.
