Gerry & The Pacemakers - Ferry cross the Mersey 1992

1964 on top number 8 in UK

Life goes on day after day
Hearts torn in every way

So ferry 'cross the Mersey
'cause this land's the place I love
and here I'll stay

People they rush everywhere
Each with their own secret care

So ferry 'cross the Mersey
and always take me there
The place I love

People around every corner
They seem to smile and say
We don't care what your name is boy
We'll never turn you away

So I'll continue to say
Here I always will stay

So ferry 'cross the Mersey
'cause this land's the place I love
and here I'll stay
and here I'll stay
Here I'll stay

  • This song is so peaceful to listen to!

  • That is his voice when he first recorded the song.

  • @dropover Agreed. I think he's lip synching. The band and orchestra sound exactly like the record, too.

  • '64 was such a great year!

  • to me they are better than the beatles.there music has meaning and feeling. the beatles had more marketing of themselves(the fab 4) and all that. it finally overtook talent and good music, like this song.

  • I don't know what's up with Gerry these days, but I caught him in the early 90's at a Beatles fest. He sang a half dozen songs - just him and his acoustic guitar. His voice was better than ever. I got to meet him afterwards and talked to him for ten or fifteen minutes. Seems like a very nice guy.

  • AIRFORCE 1!.

  • yes this is the number.

    go back in time.

    your first kiss and love.

    greetings from the netherlands

  • Shame that they use the old voice from the recordings ...

  • This sucks..first thing he's lip syncing the tune, next he's the only original member and finally he 's old enough to be the grandfather of all the new members of the band. I bet he chose these younger guys to make himself look younger.

  • @007charris

Yes,because Gerry is miming to his sixties recording of

    "Ferry Cross The Mersey".

The German TV shows unfortunately do this a lot.
