well, in Spain we call all continent America(not only USA).
True, it was not good what they did. It was the way they thought at that time. if you find gold, take by force. Later (in south america they tried to take more care of people). Is what Imperiums did..not good anyway. But the exploration voyages were incredible.

the hero? more like savage. forget to mention overpowered with greed, and enslaver? he gets credit for discovering america when he only went to the americas... not what we now call america.

I know he was not the hero that we all celebrate Columbus Day for, but this was done for a sophomore history class. we tried to keep a good mix of subtle humor, cheap gags, and historical accuracy.
