Compare the Hong Kong airport to the Kai Tak, its a cake walk. No more clearing roof tops, getting too close to the mountains, crazy cross winds, and white knuckle landings. I will take landings here any day.

@asharwin930 that is partly the reason, but planes take off into the sun often. the reason is that the wind is usually blowing west to east, causing planes to be overspeed on landings. It was fine for take offs, but if you took off in the same direction planes were landing, you would fly into their approach paths. Thats why planes take off and land in the same direction. They changed to using 07 mostly after a 747 came quite close to the end of the runwy on landing. The sun was a small reason.
