THE PHOTOS IN THIS MEDITATION WERE MOSTLY TAKEN IN NEW ENGLAND. THEY ARE PICTURES OF THE COLORS OF AUTUMN. THE LEAVES IN THE FALL ADDRESS A DEEP FELT ONTOLOGICAL NEED FOR BEAUTY, BUT THERE IS A DEEPER WHISPER AT WORK IN THE FALL'S MIRACULOUS TURN OF EVENTS. THE MAGNIFICENCE OF THIS YEARLY OCCURANCE REMINDS US OF OUR OWN FRAGILITY. LIKE COHELET, THE AUTUMN LEAVES TEACH US THERE IS A TIME TO BE BORN AND A TIME TO DIE. THE AUTUMN LEAVES ASK, (CONTRARY TO THE AVOIDANCE OF A HEALTHY ATTITUDE TOWARD DEATH SO PREVALENT IN OUR CULTURE) THAT WE LEARN THE WISDOM OF INSECURITY. LIKE ALL THE LAWS OF NATURE, WE TOO MUST LET GO. WE CANNOT CLING FOREVER TO THE LIMB OF MATERIAL SECURITY. OUR DEATH IS A METAMORPHOSIS. THE LEAVES OF AUTUMN ENRICH THE SOIL FOR ANOTHER GROWTH IN ANOTHER YEAR.
