1:37 I didn't know Yankee Stadium served RC cola back then

I always wondered two things about Giants football in Yankee Stadium.#1 Why were there wooden horses around the sidelines and secondly were bleacher ticket prices the same as grandstand.Lets face it, you could sit on the 50 Yard line with a perfect view of the action albeit no backs on the seats like Foxboro Stadium? Can anyone explain?

@DNSKansas yes you are right in fact the nfl blackout rule was lifted because that was the only was they would let the giants play in new haven for the rest of 73 and 74 because ct stations would no loner be able to show games otherwise becuase of the 75 mile blackout rule- the giants had no place to play well int o the spring of that year

Man I remember this game. The Giants went 6-0 in preseason then beat the Oilers in the opener, then it was downhill after that the G-Men went 2-11-1.The seventies were awful the Giants. So if there are Lions fans and Browns fans I know what you guys are going through!

@RRaquello You are absolutely correct. The blackout rules were changed before the 1973 season in order to allow the home games to be broadcast if it was sold out 72 hours in avance. The Giants played the Oilers in the season opener at the Stadium and this game before moving to the craphole in New Haven.

I saw this game on TV. That might have been the first year there was no home team blackout, so it was on in the NY area. The Giants had some big hopes for that year because they had a good year in 72 and won all their preseason games in 73. Then they stunk out the whole 73 season, LOL, playing their home games at the Yale Bowl. I believe they went 2-11-1. The Eagles & Giants had some pretty lousy teams in those years.

I was at that game with my father. I was five years old and we sat in the bleachers and I remember asking him why there weren't any backs on the chairs. Great memories!!!
The blackout rule was lifted at the start of the season by Congress. They wanted to see Redskin home games. Pete Rozelle was pissed and as revenge he took away doubleheaders for New York if a home game was televised (and they all were). If both teams played at 1 then no 4:00 game in New York.
Giants played rest of 73 and 74 season at Yale Bowl. They only won 1 game there in 2 seasons. Pathetic!
