This is wonderful. I had no idea he was such a good singer.

Many thanks for the info...I do recall seeing him in the large group vocal settings...what a wonderful traet to at least have this one in a duet with the missus! BTW I think my favorite Cathcart trumpet clips with Welk are the 1965 Jazz Me Blues and the pre-recorded (sounds like it) version of Slow Poke..he was truly one of the all-time American musical greats.

Dick was a super talented guy. Along with his brilliant, swininging, trumpet he was a great singer too. A skilled singer. He could sight-sing parts. So, he also did much studio singing in Hollywood. He also sang with the Modernaires in the '50s. He would often sing in vocal group settings on the Welk show. I don't know of any other solo type things.

Wonderful...who knew that Dick had such a pleasant singing voice? Was this his only singing on the Welk show?

This is soo adorable! They were such a happy married couple on the welk show
Dick is indeed a pleasant singer, a little like Johnny Mercer. They should have featured him more. Cool that they really were a couple, the chemistry really comes through here.
