Granada TV, Continuity, October 1996

I don't recall uploading this one before. But anyway it includes a promo for the National TV Awards, the Granada Rocket ident, a trailer for Soldier Soldier and then a cold ridden John Mackenzie voicing the next slide into Londons Burning.

I always remember that rocket ident being the inspiration for the front page of Granada's old ancillary text service!

John Mackenzie should have had the night off sounding like that.

I remember the old Granada Text front, it used to animate just like the ident too, but they dropped in November 1999 for obvious reasons. Granada presentation got better in the late 1990's, they just constantly added great idents, there was this, a football G, fish bubble G, glass G, the steam glass G, they were good.

Of course, most of those idents were the net result of an in-house presentation review carried out around 1995.

The idents were great, even if it did mean less IVC.

Really, I didn't know they did that. I do remember less and less IVC as time went on. I don't know what it was in the 1990's with Granada, the idents were getting better and better, where as from 1968 until 1989 it was pretty much the same still ident, but the continuity made up for that.

I'm guessing that the date for this clip would be on the 16th October 1996? I don't know what day it is though. I think I know that the date I've given would be out by a few days or so.

So steviegTVreturns, I know the date I've given was a guess but do u know the exact date for this clip?

I remember seeing a train ident when we accidentally picked up Granada.

I agree. The Granada idents did get better in the late 90s, but it was never as good after IVC ended in 1996.

It was a great presentation period for Granada, between introducing these idents and YTV taking over continuity. It was all downhill after that. n_n
