As a fan of the Guilty Gear series, I thought GG2 Overture was quite a unique idea. It was received as a mediocre title by critics, and didn't get as much attention over here as it should have.

I bought it last night, and the critics were wrong.

Guilty Gear 2 Overture pulls in it's fighting game roots and combines it perfectly with RTS for an incredible game filled with awesome characters (of course!), and sweet, fast gameplay. I have been playing since I bought it last night!

But with all of it's awesome features, comes more awesome music, courtesy of Daisuke and pals. This man is my favorite designer on the market today. He's a genius! Not only are the Guilty Gear games my favorite fighting games to date, but the characters and music that have come out of the series are so melodic, so powerful, so cheery, so playful, so memorable, so SWEET!! As and artist myself, Daisuke's characters and music are incredibly inspiring to me. They show just how powerful the visual and aural mediums can be! I strive for my artwork will be as memorable and fantastic as his!

Okay enough of that.

I took note of the music for this game (already expecting great things from Daisuke composing) while I was going through the Exhibition menu, choosing my character. The song was exciting, fast and grabbed my attention and held it. Whoa! I thought ; this song is awesome! And eventually the rest of the soundtrack pulled me in.

Diva, Diva Diva Diva! What a fantastically unique song! It begins with an enchanting voice and a bouncy piano melody, pulling in the drums and becoming something beautiful! Then breaking down to Daisuke's traditional metal/rock and pumping out the melodies that will sick around for quite some time! Fantastic!

Also, the final boss fight is breathtaking. It's a beautiful red hue, a lake of crimson, red clouds, the neon cube in the background. And at the furthest most distance lies the behemoth Valentine! You make a mad dash while this song plays, pulling you into a surreal and stunningly beautiful fight for earth! Wonderful!
