1) We escape all our troubles, you have to personally fly an aircraft to experience it though.

2)Mans dream is to fly like a bird, they use their own power, it just feels more like we are unaided.

3)Human powered is slower, quiter and cheaper and the excersie realeses endorphins that make people enjoy themselves more.

what many people forget is that most successful human powered aircraft have only been desinged by small groups of people. imagine if the big name corporations put mass research into this. it is fact that most people spend most of their lives beign hooked on petrol powered vehicles and are totally reliant on them and majority of people will never think outside of that

it is not so much re inventing the wheel as it is spinning that wheel or fan! I reckon after riding this for a bit you would certainly feel as if your bones were hollow! think of cranking your bike up a bloody steep hill all the time. that s what it needs to stay airborne.

I'm too old to pedal, so I cheat and run off a slope into rising air......have you seen foot launched gliders? I've a great respect for the teams that build these ultra light aircraft, but I still use Ryanair to get from A to B. Long live the eccentrics!

you need to have going for about three or four hours for that to happen and most people are too impatient for that

@586guest2 what if you could make a human powered ducted fan - it would create more power with as much weight and therefore you could have much more speed and altitude

@sketchupto3drad yeah its just that human powered flight is useless at this stage. sure it can be done but its slow and unpractical, engines make everything better!
