I had the problem where after I jailbroke my iPhone 3GS, and unlocked it in ultrasn0w via redsnow, it went into a recovery mode and got stuck. I tried RecBoot but didn't work and kept getting a 1050 error. I found a forum where the guy tells you how to fix this problem. Here's the forum:

  • @ThakurDhiru Use pwned DFU mode in Redsn0w to keep it in a state where you can custom restore the firmware in iTunes.

  • do you know if the costum firmware work for a 3g

  • do you know how to find the custom ispw for iphone 3g

  • @flyboi94 try tinyumbrella, it worked for me but you will have to change your host file and fool iphone of thinking that your PC is the apple sever. just search for tinyumbrella

  • well i think that you can also use tiny umbrella, it worked for me. I have  iphone 3g
