  • the silencer isn't doing much! Nevertheless a lovely engine to own.

  • Douro20, H. Bamford and sons and JCB are like you said 2 completley seperate companies. But they are the same family. Joseph Cyril was actually a cousin of the original companys family. Intrestingly when Bamfords went bust in the 1980's JCB bought there facotry etc and until recently still used it. (I believe that the land has recently been sold for a housing development).

  • However they were purchased by JCB in the 1970s but that was the only real relation between the two.

  • Actually, in this case it's H. Bamford and Sons of Uttoxeter, East Staffordshire and not JCB.  The two are completely unrelated companies, even family-wise.

  • I think the manufacturer now produces JCB dozers (JCB are the initials of Bamford)
