Rogue Leader: Raid on Bespin - Gold Medal (A-Wing)

There are several reasons why this level can go eat it:

- The TIE Interceptors kamikaze into the platforms (and into your craft for that matter)
- The boundaries of the gas platform parts are so tiny. That's why it looks like I'm an idiot when I try to shoot the Interceptors
- The A-Wing is just a terrible craft, especially because of that horrible secondary weapon. They changed it in Rebel Strike and then it became the best craft
- The ropes on the hot air balloons really get in the way. Sometimes it blocks both of your lasers at once

The level is challenging but for the wrong reasons. This is one of my least favorite missions in Rogue Squadron. And it was pretty hard until I found out that blowing up the hot air balloons counts as a kill for all the turbolasers.

I did pretty sloppy on this run but I'm too pissed at the level to try again

You know what's gay as hell? I tried using that "lock-on" thing with the A-wing, and the game wouldn't let me do it! I know it's supposed to lock on the missiles the A-wing has, but when I pressed and held the B button, it didn't do crap! As soon as I let go after giving up, missiles shot out, and of course I hit nothing except empty space, haha.

@tamaking86 You can only do that in Rebel Strike. In this game, you have to have the Homing Missiles tech upgrade, and you only need to tap B, and the lock-on cross-hair will appear. Once you lock onto an enemy with that, press B again and like four fucking missiles will go after it.

And yes, I agree about this stage being challenging for all the wrong reasons. It's aggravating as hell to shoot those balloons and the ropes get in the way. And actually, if you'll notice, the TIE fighters and Interceptors love to kamikaze into any of your ships, like the Friggate Redemption, and your entire fleet in Battle Of Endor. I have seen countless TIES smack right in to that damn Friggate!

@tamaking86 you should see my video called "Rebel Strike: Fondor Shipyard Assault (TIE Hunter)." Early in the video there's a part where two TIE fighters crash INTO each other, hahaha.

I had that game a few years ago and i never managed to get the Gold Medal because of Time... Because i never imagined that it would be that easy to destroy those fucking annoying turbolasers. Fuck That, i buy that Game tomorrow and make this mission gold now!!

@naguleader no problem! I just recently got a gold medal on Imperial Academy Heist. It took me a few hundred tries, but I finally got it. I'll check out that video you mentioned, haha. TIE fighters crashing into each other? Priceless =]

holy fuck...I've been using the X-wing and naboo starfighter to gain my speeds when destroying those turbo laser balloon stations. I never seen such fight come from the A-wings! My gamecube is turned on right now and is still on the Mission Select screen. I came to youtube this stage and now I know what to pick. Thanks =]
