Yes you are correct, the A is faster. I actually went there to get some video at the station. I have another video of me hopping the "A" train at JFK. 6 bucks vs. $60 for a limo.

@cancerman50 I did not see the news on that, I'll have to take a look. I have another JFK trip coming out in 2 weeks, this time it's Jet Blue and via the A-train to 34st.
