This time I finally show you my secret: how do I make all those paper models that look so unbalanced stand upright by themselves without glueing them to a base or stand or putting weight in their boots?

I'm using my latest model to demonstrate: FF7/KH Cloud Strife, available (real) soon from http://www.kickme.to/ninjatoes

  • your models are great

im going to be making my first model soon

im going to make sane persons sephiroth first, so i can get some experience with an easier model before i start on yours

cant you put weights in there feet? like coins or somthing?

  • Of course you can, at least if you don't forget until you're completely finished... ;o)

You could try to leave the soles of the shoes open until the very last, so you can work out exactly how much weight you need, but it can be a bit hard to shape the shoes if you don't glue the soles on first.

Most people that weigh down their models seem to do put in some weight right after they built the shoes.

Good luck and have fun building!

  • i love your paper craft models ive made alot of the zelda ones and im making the cloud one right now your brilliant at this great job keep up the good work

  • how can i open it what program i need to use??

  • @ruinedfaith09 Most printers have different quality settings where a lower quality uses less ink, but of course: the print really will be of a lower quality, so I don't know if that's what you want...

You could print a test page to see what it will look like, I wouldn't print the whole thing at once: of course the bigger you make it, the more ink you will need, there's no helping that I'm afraid! ;o)

  • @ruinedfaith09 You'll need more for that than just paper and glue, I think...! ;o)

  • Haha, I'm sure you're being a bit too hard on yourself! ;o)

The whole point of pre-shaping, is just to get the tension out of the paper:

For "polygonal" models, that just means scoring the folds and folding the parts before actually glueing anything together yet...

...and for "smooth" models, it just means curving the paper prior to actual assembly.

It's nothing really fancy, and if the way you managed it allows you to build the model, then you did it correctly. ;o)

    Have fun!

  • The only problem Im having is pre-shaping, I watched your video, but I seem to uber suck at it.
