There is a theory that although genes determine sex, the proportions of certain hormones in the mothers body affect development of areas of the fetal brain contributing to gender expression of masculinity or femininity. So there is no necessary relationship between sex expressions and gender expression except for our concepts of gender assignment on the basis of sex expression.
Anyhow, even if it only a model of the real mechanism it makes sense to me and explains a lot.

This is classic I was burned by the popular kids in school tone. He's bitter about other happy, heterosexual couples. As he said, he doesn't ever want to be reminded of someone being straight. The homosexual life style he as adopted is his way to find a partner which to accept him, as this community is very accepting of those who are 'different' such as himself. If he'd adopt his natural given gender (is that so bad?) he might be getting blow jobs instead of having to give them.
