Live during the Rolling thunder Review. Seen from a Ronno addict point of view, too bad Dylan ain't "see through" yet a favorite of mine since I bought the "Hard Rain" LP way back in ... you don't wanna know !

  • I remember calling in sick for work so I wouldn't miss this on TV.

  • I love the way he kept reworking songs to keep them fresh and highlight the musicians he was working with. Cool stuff.

  • I love watching this show from my alma mater. Go RAMS!

  • @rexzens

1976. It was broadcast on NBC.

  • what year is this?

  • Also, did you ever consider that the original studio version that you're so stuck on was probably the only time he EVER played it like that? I'm sure two weeks earlier and two weeks after it was completely different. Also ironic that you choose Newport as an example of an acceptable Dylan performance, when he was practically booed off that stage after singing this exact same song, and it sounded nothing like this version or the studio version. Do you really expect the man to sing the song the s

  • Headstock48,

How ironic that you would choose this song's page to complain about Dylan's ever-evolving nature. Have you ever even listened to the last verse?

"I try my best to be just like I am, but everybody wants you to be just like them. They say 'Sing while you slave', but I just get bored'!

He's not gonna compromise his art for your misguided opinion of how HIS music is supposed to sound, and that's part of what makes him such a vital performer.

  • @urlosin1 Hi. Don't you ever want to hear him do his songs even a little bit like the studio version? I'm not saying be a mime, but I really don't dig the way he makes a big point of changing every song around in concert. I've seen him and it's a real disappointment. He's trying to make a point, obviously, but it comes off as arrogant. Hey, just my opinion. Not worth much!

  • @bonachella I just don't like the fact that Dillon feels compelled to change every single song around during his concerts. It's like going to see Johnny Cash and having him play Folsom Prison Blues with a distorted electric guitar on full volume. Artistic freedom? I get it. But Dylan shows a real lack of humility and a disrespect towards his fans with the shit he does in concert. Just my opinion. But his earlier live performances, like at the Newport Folk Festival? Oh, my God. Outstanding.

  • @headstock48 open your ears mate

  • Wow, I always loved this version, but never realised it was Ronno on lead guitar. Makes sense.
