The only reason companies get rid of them is because they are 17 Tonne with a full stainless steel body & they cost a bomb to run, they are one of the best rigid single deckers ever built.

This is my favourite bus in Malta, together with the SOLARIS and the very few remaining semi-automatic AEC SWIFTS. You may see/listen to one on YOUTUBE by searching these words "en el bus de Malta" . The SWIFT has the nicest sound ever, especcially when departing on gear 2. I used to spend hours waiting for one in the 80s. It is a pity most are now with a manual gear box and the sound is ruined. Hope also they do not change the body look of the BMCs as they did to the SWIFTS.

pile of utter crap, i should know cos i work for sunny travel and since we got them nothing but trouble, we just got 3 of 3 so were using a midi coach in service now (dOH)

We already got more BMC Falcon in Malta 5 yrs ago its a very good bus :D

A more more common in Malta than England by a margin! Chesterbuus have some in chester and that's the only place I've spotyted them in England so far. I think the bus has a cummins engine fitted with a voith gearbox whining away.
Don't be fooled by the initials as these buses are made in Turkey but have to be re-engined over here due to the emissions regulations.

Haha, cool I have been on that one, it came to North Wales as a Demonstrator for Express Motors! So thats where it has ended up, thanks!

The Voith box is quite nice sounding in them, but they are crap cheap and nasty buses. Chester City Transport had some and they are now being withdrawn, which was what got me asking you the registrartion of this bus. My ride on this one wasn't too bad, I even have the film of this in North Wales haha, may put it up one day for you to see.
