I was given cupcakes and frosting after a Women's Bible Study at church. The buttercream was already colored a blue/purple color when I received it. The color screamed Hydrangea to me. I went online and found that someone had used tip 2D (large star tip) to make a Hydrangea flower. Away I went. Twenty cupcakes later I had a bouquet of Hydrangea flower cupcakes. They were a big hit at Bible study. Hope you like it.

  • That's not the right tip 4 that flower but they still look good ^.^

  • @smallsally123 What tip do you use? I didn't know there was an official tip...where did you find the official tip to use? I want to make sure I'm using the correct information. :)

  • helloo from dominican republic :-D wow this are beautiful i was wondering can i use cream cheese icing instead of buttercream??? i would appreciated if u can tell me because i don't like buttercream at all :-S

  • @boobitalicios What is the consistency of the cream cheese icing recipe you use? Can you make it stiff with out butchering the flavor? I don't know what you are using so I am guessing. If you can make your recipe stiffer so that when you mix it and you remove the beater a stiff peak stays up then your should be able to use it. It never hurts to try. Worst case senerio the petals don't work and you frost the cupcake like normal. Please tell me how it turns out. I'm interested to know :)

  • I like these and am going to try them. Sweetheart, are you really turning the bag? It looks like you are turning the cupcake, not the bag, and still getting the same effect. I like the color of the icing. Good work.

  • @wjmortician Glad you like them! I am really turning the bag. I rewatched the video to make sure. The angle of the camera doesn't show my hand moving. I do move the cupcake when turning and to change the vertical angle. I had to rotate the bag so that the star tip was not uniform but interlocking. Hope your cupcakes turn out well!

  • @audg714 I try to add some shortening to my cream cheese mix thats gonna make the icing get a stiff consistency. but am looking to do this also with merengue icing because in Dominican Republic bakeries they use it in all there cakes, so its hard to find well impossible because they don't work with buttercream. I gonna do it and let u know too how they turn out, try to add the shortening and not to over mix the cream cheese good luck :D
