Based on a photo from http://paintmyphoto.ning.com/ where photographers make their photos available for Artists to work from. gouache is sometimes called designer colors. Opaque watercolor can be used in a wide variety of ways. This was painted using 2 colors only, ultramarine blue and burnt sienna.

  • what paper do you use?

  • @parisgala my fault, I was thinking it was specifically designer's gouache

  • @Malicious2094 it is, but gouache has been around as early as the 15th century...

  • @Malicious2094 Opaque watercolors have not been respected as their own discipline as long as oil painting, however the method has been around for a long time. Thats just my understanding though ;-)

  • @ichbindarren really? I thought designer's gouache was a relatively new medium. As far as I know, oil is the most common medium used during the old master's times.

  • I have always wanted to try this because lot of the old masters used gouache. I really like the subject matter of this picture too. Great job mate.

  • Wouldn't a hair dryer be easier to use than a blow torch?

  • Great windmill and very good info on goache also. Thanks for posting another great video!
