Glad you asked! Prior to this demonstration, you would first present the Montessori 3-Period Lesson. The purpose would be number recognition (visually and via muscle memory). Once the child has mastered the initial introduction of number recognition (0-10), you would move on to this particular demo...with the primary purpose of naming and sequencing. I was just curious about your thoughts on the aims of this material. Do you allow the child to trace the numeral after you introduce it? Due to these being sandpaper, i assumed they were used as an aid to writing, and not sequencing.
