The 10th Masters Expo took place on Thursday 30 September. Over 30 student projects were on display throughout the ground floor of Old Broadcasting House. The projects included work from students studying masters in the areas of music, media and computing.

The Expo allowed postgraduate students to display the work they had completed as part of their final major project, the largest component of the masters course. MSc Sound and Music for Interactive Games student, Samir Graba, found the day very useful.

He commented: "It's great to be able to show off what you've been working on for 6 months. When you're stuck away on your own you start to question whether or not you're producing good work and it's really rewarding to receive positive comments. It's also been great to see what everyone else has been working on, it feels like a fitting celebration of our achievements."
There was a huge range of projects on display, international student, Lauren Liu Lin who studied MSc Computer Animation Technology, produced an animated pop-up book that originally started life as a present for her grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary.

Dean Northfield, a part-time student who also works for West Yorkshire Police and is studying MSc Creative Technology, carried out an investigation into how Microsoft Photosynth could be used to improve the presentation of visual evidence in court, while MSc Web Application Development student, Korapat Hollingsworth had worked in partnership with Sport England to produce an online training diary for athletes training at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

The event was well attended by a diverse range of visitors including Leeds Met staff, students, alumni and guests from industry.

Brian Larkman, programme leader for the creative connections group and founder of the Masters Showcases, said: "It's fantastic how much the shows have developed over the last decade. We've come a long way since the first show which took place in an old basement workshop in the shadow of giant lathes and milling machines. The standard of work this year is really good and we look forward to continuing the tradition for the next ten years."
